Artistic Design
- To what extent have the designers’ creative talents
been extended?
- Does the costume incorporate any unusual elements, which
set it apart from the others, is it appealing? Eye-catching? Distinctive?
Originality
- Is this a new take on an old theme?
- Has the designer chosen an original, less obvious theme
for the costume?
- Does the design make an impact and will it be remembered long after
the others have been forgotten?
Presentation
- Does the performer present the costume with flair and
style?
- Do their movements show off the costume to its fullest potential while
maintaining contact with the design?
- Does the performer maintain appropriate contact with the costume?
- If the performer and costume are separated they must be within a foot
of the costume.
- Does the performer, perform with confidence and appeal?
Spirit of carnival
- Does the performer present themselves and costume within the
spirit of carnival?
- Does the costume represent the spirit of carnival i.e., any unusual
elements which set it apart from the others?
